regenerated cellulose and NaOHBrickman2001-04-12Click here to register.
I am wondering what the resistance regenerated cellulose dialysis membranes (6000-8000 MWCO) would have to a 10-15 hour bath in .125 molar NaOH? If the resistance is good, this would be very useful to me for removing lipids and humic acid from some samples of mine. Thank you.

RC membranes are quite resistant to bases. The new fancy biotech RC membranes are made from cellulose acetate membranes that are treated with base to hydrolyze away the acetate.

Of course you should always check the properties with a test sample prior to actual use.
