 | It depends a lot on the volumes you anticipate dealing with and what the size distribution of your silica particles is.
For smaller volumes (several liters or less) you might try gravity or vacuum filtration with a tightly woven Teflon filter (see spectrum chromatography's 124090) or possibly even a very-slow paper filter.
For process volumes you'd probably need some kind of tangential filtration setup and I don't know anything about those. |

| Thank you for your response Lil Stevie. I am interested in 100 mL-type volumes. I want to clarify that I am trying to dispose of the organic matter and use the silica particle dispersion in IPA. The silica particles size range is about 8-12 nm. What is the smallest volume tangential filter set that Spectrum offers. |

| Roger:
Spectrum's MicroKros filter system may be suitable for what you're tyring to do. They have some small cartridges with polysulfone membranes that will probably stand up to your media.
