| I am trying to concentrate virus from surface waters using the MiniKros. I have come across a paper that describes using backflushing - ido I switch the motor in the opposite direction? | | |

 | I am really unfamiliar with such a term...sometimes we use back pressure to increase the pressure gradient across the hollow fiber membrane, generally resulting in an increase in flux (at the trade off of a lower recirc rate).
To concentrate a sea sample using a minikros system I would just recommend that you recirculate your sea sample through the pump at an appreciable rate (we have calculations if you can give me the specific filter number) with a TMP (Trans membrane pressure) of between 5 and 10 psi, making sure to have your recirc. resevoir open for air to replace lost volume.
