I synthesized a bimodal polymer with broad polydispersity. MW for this sample are from 25000 to 40000. I am considering membrane dialysis
to fractionate the polymer, but it is soluble
only in organic solvents such as toluene or THF. Do you sell a product that allows me to use organic solvents to isolate selected molecular weights? | | |

 | Unfortunately, Spectrum's cellulose based products do not work well with organic solvents. Some other manufacturers (e.g. Pall-Gelman) make polyethylene tubing products which may be suitable for some organic solvents.
At any rate, the 25k to 40k range is a very narrow range for dialysis. Generally at least a 2x difference in molecular weight is necessary for even a fair separation. You are probably going to have to to gel filtration to get a good separation of your polymer.
A local (houston) specialize in gel filtration of polymers is Viscotek corp. Their phone number is 281-445-5966. |
