I'm going to be processing hundreds many hundreds of liters of solution over the course of the summer. My protein is 600kd, I'll be processing the same type prep repeatedly. Each process will be about 10 L that will be concentrated down to 500 ml, roughly. What size system should I get? Are the hollow fiber filters re-usable or disposable? I expect I'll be doing this prep daily so, can I use them over an over? Thanks for you help.

The Spectrum Labs KrosFlow Research II System has an upper limit of 10L. Our Spectrum MiniKros Pilot System has a lower limit of 10L. So this is going to be decided by process time required and the viscosity of the fluid. For the KRII, you may look at long process times if you would like to concentrate cell lysate down to 500ml. What is the solution you are concentrating? Furthermore, what is the ideal process time? If you are running this on a daily basis, I would recommend the Pilot system due to its high flow rate. At 15LPM, you could process 10L in 20 minutes or less depending on the surface area of the module and the sheer rates. The modules can be cleaned with 0.5N NAOH for about 30min. If you would like further assistance, please do not hesitate to call the Spectrum Technical Service line at 310-605-2000.
